SYDNEY GENCO

Sydney Genco caught the theater bug at the age of 5 and let it run wild through her system ever since. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, she moved to Chicago for college and holds a BFA in Musical Theater Performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. It really was a no-brainer to stay in Chicago after completing school because she LOVES the theater scene in Chicago. Sydney has performed for many companies in the city including Circle Theater’s  The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas , The Foundlings,  To The New Girl , and  Hoist , tons of readings and concerts, as well as international tours (the Greece tour of  The Bacchae ) It didn’t take long to find a happy little family in Hell in a Handbag, where she gets to stretch her wings not only as an actress, but also as the makeup designer for the company! She has also dabbled in assistant directing with Handbag, which is a new venture that could prove very exciting! Sydney loves performing in new works where the rules are few and the creativity is boundless, and HIAH gives that in abundance! Thanks to her wonderful parents who have loved and supported her through this crazy trip, and to the entire Handbag family for making some of the best memories a gal could ask for!
